Iran calls for ‘A new world order’

Are you ready for the change in Government which is almost here? Amid warnings from other world leaders Mahmoud Ahmadinejad  recently gave his last speech to the United Nations General Assembly as president of Iran. He called for a ‘New World Order’ blaming capitalism and the United States and Europe for "trampling on the rights of others" and contributing to sad state of the world.

"The history of mankind is marked with failures,", he said, among which were environmental atrocities, the killing of "millions" of people in U.S.-led wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and a world media sympathetic to "Zionism", meaning Israel (a name he never uses!)

His speech came a day after President Barack Obama’s warning "Make no mistake, A nuclear-armed Iran is not a challenge that can be contained. It would threaten the elimination of Israel, the security of Gulf nations and the stability of the global economy." To which Ahmadinejad responded in a Press interview "A nuclear weapon? For what? For what purpose?". "Why would we do that? What would we use it for?"

His last speech at the UN differed from his previous rants in that it was almost conciliatory. In an interview with Associated Press he stated that his new world order would be initiated by smaller nations with the U.S. and the traditional powers playing a smaller role and every country having equal standing. “God willing, a new order will come and will do away with … everything that distances us,” “All of the animosity, all of the lack of sincerity will come to an end. It will institute fairness and justice.”

A wonderful concept, but not so new as the Scriptures already promise a New World Order according to the Will of God, under the reign of a benign Dictator who will be aided by his immortal ‘Saints’.

The Real New World Order

And while Ahmadinejad was a little hazy about his plans, the Bible is very clear. The New World Order, known as the Kingdom of God, will have ..

A wise King who will deal out perfect justice (Isa 11: 2)

  And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

3  And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

4  But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

A single world wide religion (Micah 4:2)

2  And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

No more war (Micah 4:3)

3  And he (the LORD’S King) shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

4  But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it.

Health and long life (Isa 65:20)

20  There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.

21  And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.

22  They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.

The ‘The Kingdom of God’ is the one which the Lord Jesus Christ taught us to pray for when we say, ‘Thy Kingdom come’ and it will be set up at his Return. Unlike Ahmadinejad’s impractical ‘vision’ it will not be set up without conflict, by the decree of the United Nations, but after a world wide upheaval of warring Nations.

The thin Red Line

And that conflict may be very near. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has recently repeatedly urged President Obama to ‘draw a red line’ that Iran’s nuclear program can't cross. He warned that Iran could be ready to build an atomic bomb in 6 or 7 months. The US disagree, saying that it would take well over a year before they had a nuclear warhead, but Israel don’t seem prepared to gamble on this. Many analysts see Netanyahu's increasingly vocal demands as proof that a violent showdown between Iran and Israel is nearly here.

 Iran’s Clock is running out.

Iran is getting more and more belligerent, even sending its troops to fight in Syria. It is
accusing nuclear inspectors of sabotage and having been infiltrated by "terrorists and saboteurs" Diplomacy is going nowhere Martin Indyk, America's former ambassador to Israel told CBS News ‘Iran hasn't budged. If nothing changes, then I am afraid that 2013 is going to be a year in which we're going to have a military confrontation with Iran." And as a strong indication that Western leaders think Israel is getting ready to strike Iran, they are gathering an armada off Iran, doubtless to protect the Strait of Hormuz , just in case!

The Iranians are not strangers to Bible Students, Isaiah prophecies about them in the 13th Chapter. There they are known by their old name- the Medes, who with the Persians conquered the Babylonian Empire and ruled over much of the Middle East.

Isaiah 13 commences by making a prophecy against Babylon, whom the LORD is going to subdue by the Medes

1 ¶  The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.

3  I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.

4  The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.

5  They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.

Now, although this is initially a prophecy about the fall of Babylon to the Medes and Persians, but the words of the prophecy indicate a much wider scope, describing a time termed ‘the day of the LORD’ when the whole world will be involved.

6 ¶  Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.

9  Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.

11  And I will punish the world for their evil....

13  Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

Many prophecies have a dual application and as the troubles described above have not yet happened, we can trust that they will occur in the future. At the time of the end , just like against Babylon, the LORD will motivate the Medes ( Iran) to The great day of the LORD (Zephaniah 1:14) and ‘the great day of his wrath’ (Revelation  6:17)

 Isaiah continues..

17  Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.

18  Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.

The ‘great day of the LORD’ will be initiated by a great army, led by Gog. which comes to attack Israel. Zechariah 14 tells us of this time and of the Return of Christ..

1 ¶  Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.

2  For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

3  Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.

4  And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives,

9  And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.

As we can see, Gog and his armies, including Persia (Ezekiel 38:5) will be defeated and the outcome of that conflict, will be a blessing on Israel and all the nations who put their trust in Jesus (Micah 4:3)

Stirring up the Medes

When we look at the World scene there can be no doubt that God is today in the process of ‘stirring up the Medes (Iran)’. Whether, or not there will be a conflict before Iran joins the army of Gog (Russia) and comes down from the North, to attack Israel we don’t know. What we do know is that the Iran is at present incredibly stirred up. Even so, they may yet find it more politic to join with their steadfast  ally, Russia, in a future campaign against Israel than go it alone.

Again we are seeing conditions developing just as our Lord stated would come just before his return to set up that ‘New World Order- His Kingdom, where he will rule the world in righteousness. That time is coming soon- and that time will start with incredible ferocity.

Daniel is told of this time Da 12:1  And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. 2  And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

It is to be a time of terrible conflict, Judgement and ultimately great peace and everlasting life for the faithful. Will you be ready?
